Flowers from last fall.
All of our seeds are in the ground and we are patiently (or not so patiently) waiting for blooms.
Last year, we moved from Peachtree City to a farm in Brooks, just a few minutes from Starr's Mill. We bought a 1930's farmhouse and lovingly renovated it or should I say gutted it. Yes, it was exactly like you see on HGTV where the couple is crying over bad news...daily.
These beautiful 10 acres used to be a dairy farm so were ecstatic when we dug around getting ready to plant a field of flowers for my photo sessions. The soil was incredible, unlike any we have had here in Georgia. The cows certainly helped prepare our farmland! We have always gardened but now we don't have to go to the community garden as it is right in our backyard.
The flowers absolutely LOVED the soil and flourished. So did our many pumpkins. We had so many flowers that we were able to sell bouquets and still have fresh cut flowers in every room of the house...a dream come true for me. We also sold gourds and pumpkins, LOTS of pumpkins from tiny to enormous.
We have spent this winter doing a ton of research, taking INTENSE flower farming classes and starting seedlings in our new greenhouse. Our goal is to grow a bigger, more substantal field of flowers with LOTS of types to hopefully offer U-Pick, Flower Buffet, Gift Certificates and subscription bouquets in 2023. We will have a Frequent Flower Loyalty Card where the 6th bouquet is free and offer gift certificates for all of the above, a perfect gift for someone sweet in your life!
Stay tuned to see what grows. Fingers crossed!
