Every year, we collect for the homeless, sort the items, make bags and go deliver onto the streets of Atlanta. Our goal is that each person receives the following:
- used bag
- used blanket
- used coat
- gloves, scarf, hat
- new underwear
- new socks
- toiletries
- snacks
- handmade card lettting them know they are worthy of love
The last couple of years, we have been able to help over 500 people. Our homeless packing event was held in February 2023.
We want to thank our firefighters by treating them with fun, football party Superbowl food. Several people have stepped up to be the contact person for a station to coordinate so there are not 5 bean dips but it is not necessary to contact them and you can do it at your own local station. Print up a Spark card and attach it to any snack to drop off around 3:30 or 4:00 Sunday, February 12th.
Let's show our police officers how much we appreciate all that they do for us to keep us safe. We will need a contact person for each station so let me know if you can help out. It would just require you to contact the station and let them know. We will all rally up some food from friends and on our Sparking Georgia Facebook page. People can contact you to make sure they don't all drop off the same egg casserole. Breakfast items would need to be dropped off around 8:00.
Such a FUN day!!! Invite your family and friends, meet up with other Sparklers or do it solo! Basically, this is a day to show our love! Print up the Spark ideas and the cards (or order cards from me) and scatter sparks, love and hope all over town. The hospital parking lot or lobby, the school office, the doctor's office, store parking lots, church offices, your co-workers, your neighborhood, wherever you can spread love with sparks. People have written encouraging chalk notes on the sidewalks and paths, left encouraging ntoes in the store, bubbles at the playground. Just have fun and take lots of photos to share on our Facebook pages, Sparks of Kindness and Sparking Georgia. You will inspire others!
