It all started with a camera and a simple idea: to help tweens see their own beauty—inside and out. Through my Bloom Your Own Way Tween Empowerment Photo Experiences, I captured not just smiles, but real moments of self-discovery, confidence, and joy. I watched as these young girls saw themselves in a whole new light, and the impact was undeniable. It was bigger than just photos.
I knew I had to do more.
That’s when I launched the annual Bloom Your Own Way Tween Empowerment Event which has become an anticipated, sold-out event each year. It is a full day designed to uplift, inspire, and celebrate tweens during one of the most transformative times in their lives. Held at our beautiful flower farm, the event is a bohemian dream—paper lanterns in the trees, vibrant blooms everywhere, and a feeling of pure magic in the air.
The transformation is powerful. I’ll never forget one sweet girl hugging me tightly at the end of the event, whispering, “This is my 12th birthday, and I think it’s the best birthday ever. Best day I’ve ever had.” Moments like that remind me why this work is so important.
Tweens today are bombarded with messages that make them feel like they’re not enough. But here, at Bloom Your Own Way, they discover that they are more than enough. They are extraordinary.

I went to Idaho several times to get Certified to lead these AMAZING workshops and retreats because this is so important to me. The lack of self-confidence I had until my 40's dictated all my decisions and my relationships. I don't want another young girl to go through that.
Darlene and I are passionate about this work. We have all types of workshops to teach life skills that we are not really taught growing up and then that thing called life...well, it stumps us sometimes, doesn't it?
